Welcome to Tilly-Mints Cherubs Day Nursery, a place where children feel safe, happy and inspired to learn. We provide high-quality childcare and early education for babies through to pre-school age, in nurturing rooms tailored to every stage of development.
About the nursery
Tilly‑Mints Cherubs Day Nursery in Blackhill, Consett specialises in day care for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We are open 5 days a week, 7.15am to 6.00pm, all year round, closed bank holidays and one week at Christmas.
We moved to our premises on Queens Road in 2015, conveniently situated just off the A691, set in our own grounds with a fun outdoor play area.
Our carefully designed baby room, two-year-old provision and pre-school room offer stimulating environments tailored to every stage of development.
Our dedicated School Readiness Programme helps prepare pre-school children for their next steps, giving them the skills and confidence they need for a positive transition to school.
Learning through the EYFS
The Early Years Foundation Stage shapes our daily routine, communication, physical development, personal and social growth, literacy and numeracy, all through play.

Qualified to care
All staff are qualified in paediatric first aid and hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in early years, up to Level 6.

Everyone receives regular monthly training, both internal and external: new workshops, skills and knowledge that keep our standard of childcare high.

The wellbeing of our team is so important to us. Happy, supported staff create a happy, settled nursery, so we look after our people just as carefully as the children in our care.
