Nursery life
Real partnership with parents, weekly yoga and visits in our local community.
Parents and carers know their children best. From the moment your child joins us we work closely with you to understand their needs, interests, routines and personality. Our key-person approach gives every family a familiar member of staff to speak to, and regular updates through the Famly app keep you involved in your child’s learning and development.
Regular Stay and Play sessions welcome you into your child’s room to join in and see how they learn through play, while fun take-home activities make it easy to keep learning together at home. We operate an open-door policy: staff are always available for everyday conversations, and private meetings can be arranged whenever needed.
Because family life is busy, our monthly Parent Wellbeing Day offers a complimentary takeaway hot drink and slice of cake at drop-off, a small reminder that your wellbeing matters too. And our annual Christmas and summer fairs bring children, families and staff together as one community.
Our children regularly enjoy yoga sessions led by a qualified yoga instructor. These fun, age-appropriate sessions use gentle movement, stretching, breathing exercises, music and imaginative play to introduce children to yoga in an engaging and enjoyable way.
Yoga supports children’s physical development by helping to improve balance, coordination, flexibility and body awareness. It also promotes emotional wellbeing by encouraging children to relax, regulate their breathing and recognise how their bodies feel.
Taking part in yoga can help children develop concentration, confidence, self-esteem and resilience, while providing them with simple calming techniques they can use when experiencing strong emotions. The sessions also encourage listening, turn-taking and participation within a group.
Most importantly, our yoga sessions give children an opportunity to slow down, have fun and enjoy positive movement in a calm and supportive environment.
Getting out and about is a treasured part of life at Tilly-Mints. The children enjoy regular visits to community gardens, local parks and nature walks, exploring the changing seasons, spotting wildlife and learning about the world on their doorstep.
Around Christmas time we visit the local care homes to sing carols and hand-deliver our homemade Christmas cards: a highlight of the year that brings real joy to residents and children alike, and teaches our little ones the value of kindness and community.
